Boil water advisory for part of Franklin

About 250 Franklin homes and businesses are being asked to boil their water after a main break Friday afternoon.

Indiana American Water Company issued the boil water advisory when or after water pressure dropped below recommended levels due to the break.

The water main break occurred on U.S. 31, south of Acorn Road, and affected water service to a subdivision and businesses on the northside of Franklin, according to a news release from the company.

The break was fixed about 5 p.m. Friday.

The area affected includes customers located on the east side of U.S. 31 between Schoolhouse Road and Vectren Energy; the west side of U.S. 31 between Commerce Drive and Branigin Road; the Branigin Creek subdivision located south and west of Branigin Road and U.S. 31; Franklin Community High School; and businesses located on Commerce Drive east of U.S. 31 to the railroad tracks, the news release said.

The boil water advisory means customers are asked to drink and cook with tap water only after boiling it for at least three minutes. Tap water can be used for washing/bathing.
