Competition emerges in races for city clerk positions

More contests are shaping up on the Republican side, including contests for clerk seats in both cities.

Jane Rhoades filed to run for Franklin clerk-treasurer, challenging longtime officeholder Janet Alexander, who already had filed to run for re-election.

In Greenwood, incumbent City Clerk Jeannine Myers is seeking another term. City parks department employee and Greenwood school board member Nick Schwab filed this month to challenge Myers for the position.

Brian L. Moore has filed to run for an at-large seat on the Greenwood City Council, becoming the third person to file for the three available seats.

Six other incumbents have filed to seek another term:

  • Kenneth Zumstein, Bargersville Town Council at large
  • Steven W. Longstreet, Bargersville clerk-treasurer
  • Ken Austin, Franklin City Council District 4
  • Thom Hord, Greenwood City Council District 6
  • David Hopper, Greenwood City Council District 5
  • John Perrin, New Whiteland Town Council Ward 3
