Paul Robert Pruitt

Paul Robert Pruitt, 89, of Greenwood, passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014.

He was born in Southport on July 13, 1924, a son of James and Ruby Pruitt.

He married Phyllis (Hensley) Pruitt on June 29, 1947. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Robert Pruitt; two daughters, Pam (Gary) Long and Peggy (Randy) Annis; five grandchildren, Barbara (Jon) Merritt, David Long, Steven (Shannon) Long, Nathanial Annis and Amanda Hughes; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Pruitt.

Paul served our country in the U.S. Army.

He was member of Nineveh Masonic Lodge, Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite and Nineveh Order of the Eastern Star.

Paul enjoyed golfing, playing cards, traveling, reading the Bible and spending time with his family.

He was a member of Faith Community Church.

Paul worked as a farmer for most of his life and he also worked at Rexham as a press operator for 24 years.

After retirement Paul and his wife lived in Tavares, Fla., for 20 years.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Pastor Chuck Shively will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Salvation Army or to Riley Children’s Hospital, in care of the funeral home.
