NEW KENT, VA.
Mark Allen Harvey, 53, of New Kent, Virginia, lost a courageous battle after a yearlong illness on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Rose Harvey; one brother, James T. Harvey; and one sister, Barbara A. Martin.
Mark is survived by his wife, Teresa Walker Harvey; two brothers, John M. Harvey and Joseph W. Harvey, both of Greenwood; in-laws, Sharon and Carlos Dobbs of Cookeville, Tennessee; and several loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mark served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was an avid fisherman.
He was a long-term operations manager who worked at Virginia Commonwealth University for 28 years.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Mechanicsville chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Road, Mechanicsville, Virginia. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mark’s honor may be made to the American Cancer Society.
