Marquita ‘Keta’ Dean Sodrel

Marquita “Keta” Dean Sodrel, 65, of Columbus, passed away at South Central Indiana Hospice on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, 2015.

She was born May 5, 1949, in Manchester, Kentucky, to Mark and Sylvia Dean.

Keta served as corporate secretary at the family businesses but considered her most important job to be wife, mother and grandmother. Whether in Washington, D.C., Indiana or wherever she traveled, she would say she was “working for the Lord.”

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Mike Sodrel; two children, Noah (Kristin) Sodrel of Greenwood and Keesha (John) McCue of Woodland Hills, California; seven granddaughters, Keta McCue, Mya Sodrel, Lucee McCue, Khia Sodrel, Livvi McCue, Skye Sodrel and Fifi Sodrel; mother, Sylvia Marcum of Jeffersonville; sisters, Phyllis (Sandy) Dannenfelser of Floyds Knobs and Lou (Jimmy) Colglazier of Jeffersonville; and a brother, Mark (Tracey) Dean of Clarksville.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Monday at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at The Gardens at Olive Branch, 1605 S. State Road 135, Greenwood. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at The Gardens at Olive Branch Cemetery in Greenwood.
