GOP candidates sought for council, board seats

Two Republicans are needed to serve on elected boards that set the budget for a township and the county.

Republicans will select the new officials at a caucus Jan. 20.

The Johnson County Council has one open seat for the District 2 position, which represents Franklin Township and parts of Pleasant Township. Current member Jim Eckart is resigning.

The other vacancy is on the Franklin Township Advisory Board. Member David Harrison also is resigning from his position Jan. 5.

Anyone who wants to serve on the boards must be Republican and live in the districts the seats represent. Interested candidates must send a letter to Republican Party chairwoman Sandi Huddleston, 280 E. Creekside Court, Franklin, by Jan. 17.

Republican precinct committee members will select new board members from the list of applicants at the caucus next month at the courthouse annex, 86 W. Court St., Franklin. The caucus for the open advisory board seat will start at 7 p.m., with the county council caucus at 7:30 p.m.
