Man stabbed in hand during weekend dispute

A man was stabbed at a family gathering in Franklin during the weekend.

The stabbing happened at 3:35 a.m. Saturday at a home in the 4500 block of East Greensburg Road, west of Interstate 65. Sheriff’s deputies arrived to find a man with blood covering his hand and on his clothes. Deputies handcuffed the man, who told them he had been attacked, according to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report.

Another man at the house had been stabbed in the leg and wasn’t able to talk to police. That man was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis, the report and Sheriff Doug Cox said.

He was treated and released, Cox said.

Deputies spoke to others at the house and found a knife on the property, which was stuck in the ground like it had been thrown. The knife had blood on the blade, the report said.

No arrests were made because of conflicting statements given by people at the house. The case will be forwarded to the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office to decide what, if any, charges should be filed, Cox said.
