Lois Whitaker

WHITELAND

Lois Jean Whitaker, 81, passed away on Saturday evening, Dec. 27, 2014, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Whiteland.

She was born on Feb. 28, 1933, in Indianapolis to Jasper and Madelyn (Roberson) Camic. She married James Gilbert Whitaker on Aug. 25, 1951. He survives, residing in Whiteland. Lois is also survived by children, Teena Beth Whitaker Parker; Dennis and wife Karen Whitaker and John Alan and wife Sheryl Whitaker.

Other survivors include grandchildren, Kevin Parker, Jenna Osterhoust, Allison (Joshua) Hall, Sally Michelle Whitaker, Jessica Grace Whitaker and Madeline Elizabeth Whitaker, Laura (Ross) Meyers; Andrew (Christianna) Whitaker, Amy Whitaker and Brandy Whitaker; great-grandchildren, Keely and Bella Osterhoust, Taylor, Braden, Riley and Callie Hall, Vivian Noel Whitaker, and Roman and Leland Meyers; and brothers, Tuck Camic of Mobile, Alabama and Charles Camic of Ocala, Florida.

She was preceded in passing by her parents; son, James Brian Whitaker and siblings, Rowena Kopetsky, Mary Camic Whitaker, Billy Camic, Tommy Camic and Joyce Camic Bowling.

She was a 1951 graduate of Southport High School.

She was employed as a secretary at Farm Bureau Insurance in Indianapolis and later was employed at Specialty Connectors.

Lois was a member of Community Congregational Church. She enjoyed fishing, antiquing and watching NASCAR.

She loved to cook and spend time with her grandchildren.

A celebration of Lois’s life will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St., (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.  A private family graveside service will be held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Glenns Valley.
