Irma R. Markwood

Irma R. (Clark) Markwood, 90, passed away Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin, where she was a resident.

Irma was born in Franklin to Leon O. Clark and Elsa F. (Scott) Clark on Oct. 16, 1924; and had two sisters, Reba F. (Clark) Smith and Fern M. (Clark) Clark, who preceded her in death.

She was married to Edward G. Markwood on Aug. 26, 1953; he preceded her in death on May 18, 1978.

She was a lifelong member of Second Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.

From the time she was a teenager she was self-sufficient.

When Ed was stationed in Germany with the Army, she lived there for two years. After Ed retired, they moved to Camdenton, Missouri, on Lake of the Ozarks until Ed and her mother had passed. She then moved back to Franklin with her father. Later in life she loved to travel the world and was an avid bridge player.

Irma is survived by two nieces, Ann Demertzis (Jonathan Bainbridge) and Martha Stevenson (Thomas); and three nephews, William S. Clark (Jane Ann), Richard R. Clark (Kathy) and Steven J. Clark (Debbie).

Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Second Mount Pleasant Cemetery near Franklin, with Pastor Dan McCollough officiating.
