2 teenagers arrested after trying to break into cars

Two teens were arrested after a resident called police and said he saw them trying to break into cars in a Center Grove area neighborhood.

A resident living in the 2400 block of Baywood Court, in the Willow Lakes neighborhood, north of Stones Crossing Road and west of State Road 135, called police shortly after 1 a.m. Monday after seeing two teens trying to break into vehicles. The caller told police the pair were using hangers to enter the vehicles, according to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report.

Sheriff’s deputies came to the neighborhood and confronted the teens, who ran away. A sheriff’s deputy caught up with and arrested one. The second was arrested after returning home a few hours later, the report said.

Both were taken to the Johnson County Juvenile Detention Center in Franklin on charges of resisting law enforcement, criminal mischief and unlawful entry of a motor vehicle.
