U.S. Rep. Todd Young recently announced his nominations for the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York; the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland; and the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Johnson County nominations included Chapman Johnson for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point; and Ellis Beheler and Emily Webb for the U.S. Naval Academy.
Each year in the fall, Young holds an informational event when representatives from each academy meet with interested high school students. Later in the fall, students apply with the nomination selection boards assembled by Young. Receiving a congressional or senatorial nomination is required for admission into U.S service academies, but it does not guarantee admission.
