Norma J. (Mitchell) Jeffers

FRANKLIN

Norma J. (Mitchell) Jeffers, 87, of the Franklin United Methodist Community in Franklin, passed away Monday, Dec. 8, 2014. She was a lifelong resident of Decatur Township.

She was born March 7, 1927, in Terre Haute, to Leslie Lee Mitchell and Laura Thelma (Jackson) Mitchell.

She married Clifton Eugene Jeffers on Dec. 24, 1949, in Terre Haute. He preceded her in death on June 3, 2011.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Indianapolis.

She enjoyed reading, playing cards, and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a 1945 graduate of Terre Haute Gerstmeyer High School.

Survivors include her three daughters, Brenda Swan (Russell) of Carmel, Dr. Debra Holmes (Timothy) of Franklin and Dawn Morgan (Timothy) of Greenwood; grandchildren, Kyle Swan (Sara) of Burlington, Kentucky, Brent Swan (Marina Molenda) of Chicago, Adrianne Leavell (Joe) of Greenwood, Emily Hendrickson of Greenwood, Hannah Morgan of Greenwood, Katy Tenerowicz (Matthew) of Baltimore, Maryland and Geoffrey Holmes of Temple, Texas; and four great-grandchildren, Henry Swan, Asher Swan, Max Swan and Beckett Leavell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Rosalie Malone, and brothers Robert Melvin Mitchell and Billie Lee Mitchell.

The Revs. David Mark Owens and John Eley will conduct a service at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Wright Chapel of the Franklin United Methodist Community, 1070 W. Jefferson St., Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 S. Morton St. (U.S. 31 South) in Franklin and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the Wright Chapel. Burial will be at The Gardens at Olive Branch Cemetery in Greenwood.
