Gloria Rhodes

Gloria Mae Rhodes, 91, passed away Friday, Dec. 5, 2014. She was a resident of Franklin.

She was born March 9, 1923, in Washington County, to the late Howell P. and Bessie (Hensley) Brewer.

She is survived by her children, Gary Wayne Rhodes and Linda Kaye (Mike) Cravens; grandchildren, Andy (Rachel) Cravens, Eric (Heather) Morrow, Jill (Neil) Garland, and Melissa O’Connor; 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ernest Brewer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cal Rhodes; and nine brothers and sisters.

Gloria was a member and past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Jubilee Lodge No. 602 and Greenwood Lodge No. 514. She was also a member of Whiteland United Methodist Church.

She and her husband owned and operated Cal’s Package Liquor for 11 years. She began her banking career at the Whiteland Bank and throughout the years worked for various local banks. After her retirement she enjoyed working for MCL Cafeteria in Greenwood.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St., Greenwood. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Gloria will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
