Indy man arrested on burglary charge

An Indianapolis man was arrested Wednesday morning after tools, bicycles and beer were stolen from a Bargersville barn over the summer.

Anthony Doan, 48, 1538 Prospect St., was arrested on a charge of burglary.

The owners of a barn in the 6000 block of West County Road 300N returned home from a trip Sept. 1 and discovered power tools, 30 cans of beer and two bicycles missing. They told police they suspected Doan, who had been staying at a home in the area, the police report said.

Around the same time, a neighbor reported to police that he had found a bicycle and didn’t know who it belonged to. The bike turned out to be one of those stolen from the barn. The neighbor also reported buying tools from a man he recognized from the area but didn’t know by name. The neighbor later identified the man as Doan, the report said. The missing tools and bicycle were found and returned to the owner.

Doan is being held at the Johnson County jail on $2,000 bond.
