Leona Mae Cox

FRANKLIN

Leona Mae Cox, 87, passed away at her residence in Franklin on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014.

She was born Oct. 22, 1927, in Brown County, to Fred and Hazel (Snyder) Bay.

She married Everett Cox on Oct. 1, 1948. He preceded her in passing.

Leona is survived by their children, Gary Cox of Whiteland, Roger Cox of Peoria, Arizona, Richard (Glenda) Cox of Seabrook, Texas, Teresa (Ron) Clarkston, Doris Arnold and Douglas Cox, all of Franklin, and James Eric Cox of Greenwood. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in passing by her parents; husband, Everett; brothers, Paul Bay, Clarence Bay and David Bay; and sisters, Thelma Leffler and Esther Lucas.

Leona was employed by L.S. Ayres & Co. in Greenwood as a sales clerk for 30 years.

A celebration of life service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donors’ charity of choice.
